CHRISTMAS IS BEHIND US

Christmas 2025 is just one day behind us, and we are waking up to a new beginning, welcoming in the new year in less than a week from now. Just because Christmas is behind us does not mean that the joy of giving should be behind us. My family was just introduced to a struggling young single mother that had been fired from her job for leaving the area to attend her grandfather’s funeral. My eight-year-old grandson had the biggest smile on his face as he handed her $100 from the Bonded kitty. The joy of giving is definitely something we can practice all year long.

TRANSITION-PLUS

2025 was the beginning of a new and better phase in my life. I was welcomed into a great group therapy, called Transition-Plus. The group consists mostly of Vietnam veterans that are still dealing with PTSD from as far back as the mid 1960s. One of the remarkable things about this group of men and women is that in the thirteen years since forming, they have not had one person turn to suicide. 2026

2026 is just the beginning for Bonded a Brother’s Love. The book was published in late August of 2025 just in time for the National Suicide Awareness month of September. We are still in our infancy and looking for ways to grow. Striving to be a part of the many organizations out there that fight suicide on a daily basis. My 70^th birthday is in January 2026 at which time I will be retiring from any type of paid work and will be dedicating all of my energies toward suicide prevention. I can tell you from what I learned in the past few months I’m expecting 2026 to be the best year of my life.

PREVENTING ONE SUICIDE

I am expecting 2026 to be one of the toughest years of my life and one of the most rewarding. Our goal for 2026 is to get verification from just one person that our book, Bonded A Brother’s Love was the difference maker in deciding to not take their own life. We believe that can happen and from there to save many others. To do that I have to live everything suicide, I’m eating, drinking and sleeping with thoughts of ways to prevent suicide, which is not only making it tough on me daily, but also gives me a very rewarding feeling inside just to know that the chance of saving someone exists for us.

NEW YEAR, NEW FOCUS

The focus isn’t just starting with the new year, but the focus is very new to me. I have gone from someone that would rehash my personal devastation in my mind daily. Never finding an end to the replay even though the outcome was always the same. Now when I think suicide the focus is on preventing someone else’s suicide. I still get eaten up with my own memories, but I am finding ways of flipping those memories into reasons for prevention. Reasons to keep others from having to live like this by focusing on prevention.

 

BONDED A BROTHER’S LOVE 2026

Speaking of focus. I have gotten a little off focus since the book release. In the beginning I wanted to sale books to reach more people, to prevent more suicides. But I found myself getting caught up in other organizations that are already going strong with their prevention practices, so I have joined in and put my backing behind their efforts. The truth is my book is different. It doesn’t sugarcoat anything. I spoke straight from the heart and straight from the memory of how devastating a suicide can be. That story has to be told and has to be heard. So, for 2026, starting on my retirement date and birthday in January the whole focus will be getting books into as many hands as possible.
